the State of Illinois governing public auction sales.
Sale XLVII will contain the collection of Ancient Coins made by the
late Dr. Geo. F. Heath, of Monroe, Mich. This collection covers almost
everything in Ancients and has been catalogd by Mr. W. G. Jerrems, Jr.,
the first president of the American Numismatic Association, and a personal
friend of the Doctor’s, and who is an authority on the subject.
Terms of Sale.
1. All bids to be by the lot, irrespective of the number of pieces in a
lot. Bids below $1. must be in multiples of 5c, and above $1. multiples of
10c. A bid of 67c will be construed as 65c, and a bid of $1.83 as $1.80, etc.
2. Regular patrons may have their goods forwarded to them only on
the distinct understanding that they will send immediate payment. Auction
sales are spot cash and no time allowances or credit can be permitted
under any circumstances, the owner of the coins expecting prompt pay-
ment. Strangers must send satisfactory references.
3. Bids are numbered and tabulated in their order of receipt. If two
or more bids on any certain lot are alike, the one first received gets the lot.
If two or more unlimited bids on any certain lot are received, the first one
in gets the lot at a slight advance over the highest bid.
4. Payment should be made promptly by cash, money order or draft
on New York or Chicago. All personal checlcs from out of town are sub-
ject to 10c exchange, and this amount will be deducted from such remittances.
If a receipt is desired, a stamped, addressed envelope should be enclosed.
5. A commission of 5 per cent, of the purchase is charged for execut-
ing bids, and mail or express charges are to be paid by the purchaser.
Bids may be sent to other parties, who, for the usual commission,
will execute them and examine the lots while on exhibition, but in such
cases I assume no responsibility.
6. It is understood that I purchase for you as your agent and execute
your bids below the limit price you name, if possible. I understand fully
that the amount you name on each lot is the higliest price you are willing
to pay, and that I am to buy it at as much less as the next highest mail bid
or those present at the sale will allow.
7. Copies of this catalog with complete selling prices may be ob-
tained after the sale upon payment of 40 Cents.
All coins, etc., guaranteed genuine and original unless otherwise specified.
No duplicates in any lots unless so stated or marked unassorted.
All U. S. coins are Philadelphia mint unless otherwise noted.

23 1793 Chain with and without period after LIBERTY and date. Barely fair,
date not showing on former. Rare. 2 pcs.
24 1793 Wreath. Small date, LIBERTY and sprig. Vine and bars on edge. Un-
circulated. Very dark and shows faint corrosion under glass on
obv. The hair at highest part, as is usual, is not sharply struck up.
Defect in planchet or in striking leaves a few border dots imper-
fect on obv. The rev. is sharply and perfectly struck. Trifling
edge bruise on each side, but not impairing the beauty of the
piece. Crosby 10 — I. Excessively rare in this condition. Crosby
says of this number “This die I consider quite rare.” It is
a much superior piece to those from the Seavey and Crosby
Collections shown in the Levick plate used by Mr. Crosby. This
piece is no doubt one of the best specimens extant.

Being a complete list of all coins issued by the
U. S. Mint and branches, with their principal var-
ieties, the private issues of gold, the paper fractional
currency and all known varieties of encased postage
stamps. Book is pocket size and printed on writing
